The Wisdom of Your Being: Responsive, Relational, Adaptive, Creative

When I say “I believe in the wisdom of your body/being,” what I mean is:
“I believe in the wisdom of your responsive, relational, adaptive, creative whole self.”

Each of us is the sum of our lived experiences. Therapy can be a supportive space to rediscover and trust the wisdom that already exists within you.

The Responsive Self

We all learn to adapt to our environment using every creative ability we have. These responses help us survive and thrive. In Gestalt and embodied therapy, we explore how your body responds to life in the present moment, and how these responses carry valuable information.

The Adaptive Self

Along the way, some of our adaptive strategies may become rigid or outdated. What once supported survival can now create struggles in relationships or daily life. Therapy offers space to bring awareness to these patterns so you can open up new choices and possibilities.

The Relational Self

We grow and heal in relationship. In therapy, relational support matters. Relational therapy and embodied approaches create opportunities to:

  • notice your interior experience

  • explore how you relate to others

  • practice awareness in a safe, co-created space

This relational process supports authentic connection with both yourself and the people around you.

The Creative Self

At the core, you are a creative being. Therapy can help you:

  • explore new ways of thinking and feeling

  • experiment with different ways of sensing yourself

  • discover fresh ways of relating to the world

Your creativity is a resource for change, growth, and wholeness.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Wisdom of the Body

What does “the wisdom of your being” mean?

It refers to the natural intelligence within your body and self — the responsive, adaptive, relational, and creative aspects that guide how you move through life.

How does Gestalt therapy support body awareness?

Gestalt therapy focuses on present-moment awareness, including body sensations, thoughts, and feelings. It helps you tune into your embodied wisdom rather than ignoring or overriding it.

What if my body responses cause problems in my life?

Many adaptive responses start as survival strategies. In therapy, you can bring awareness to them, understand where they come from, and explore new choices that serve you better now.

How is relational therapy different from other approaches?

Relational therapy emphasizes the therapeutic relationship itself as a healing space. Together, we co-create awareness and practice new ways of relating that can extend into your life outside therapy.

Do you offer therapy online?

Yes. I offer therapy in Toronto and online therapy across Ontario, supporting you to reconnect with the wisdom of your being from wherever you are.
